Our fragrances are crafted and manufactured at Koesio, our workshop located in the region of Grasse. The expertise associated with perfumes from Grasse is inscribed on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list. Our perfumes have been created by master perfumers with over 30 years of experience, inspired by the noblest offerings of nature. Their creations are the result of a fascinating blend of traditional craftsmanship and modernity.

THE BEGINNINGS OF GRASSE PERFUMERY

It was during the Middle Ages that the city of Grasse experienced significant growth, owing in part to its exceptional geographical location. Nestled at high altitude and bathed in sunlight, the charming town of Grasse enjoys a Mediterranean climate conducive to the cultivation of floral and aromatic species.

In the XVth century, many tanners settled near the river that divides the city in two. Grasse quickly established a solid reputation across Europe. Gloves, belts, bags—the leather from the city of Grasse became a renowned material. It distinguished itself from its competitors thanks to its quality and its greenish color, which it owed to a maceration process in myrtle.

However, its development is hindered by the nauseating odor emanating from these creations. A solution is quickly found by the tanners, which consists of mixing floral fragrances with the leather. Perfumed pieces are sent to the Court of France. The success is dazzling! Catherine de' Medici makes it an essential fashion around the Mediterranean basin.

GRASSE, THE WORLD CAPITAL OF PERFUME

The art of tanning gave birth to flower cultivation. Since then, the fields and plantations have become a source of wealth for this city with its coveted microclimate and soil that could be described as a gold mine.

THE ALCHEMY OF ESSENCES

Let's revisit some fundamental principles of perfumery, an art that we have mastered from father to son for nearly 100 years.

From a journey, a meeting, a memory, our perfumers (also called 'Noses') draw their inspiration from a wide range of aromatic raw materials, and they will blend these essences until they find the perfect harmony.

We then refer to an olfactory pyramid with a three-level structure:

the top note (for freshness),

the heart note (for the olfactory signature)

and the base note (for warmth and longevity).

When the formula is found and the magic happens, the production of the perfume can begin.

THE COMPOSITION OF A PERFUME

The perfume consists of a fragrant concentrate with olfactive fixatives for long-lasting scent, and ethyl alcohol for optimal diffusion. For perfumes with a juice concentration of less than 20%, water can be added as a third element.
